Things continue to look fairly normal for this release: 5.11-rc4 is solidly average in size, and nothing particularly scary stands out.

In the diff itself, the new ampere modesetting support shows up fairly clearly - it’s one of those hardware enablement things that should be entirely invisible to people who don’t have that hardware, but it does end up being about a fifth of the whole rc4 patch.

If you ignore that oddity, the rest looks pretty normal, with random patches all over, and a lot of it being quite small. All the usual suspects: drivers (gpu, sound, rdma, md, networking..) arch updates (arm64, risc-v, x86), fiesystems (ext4, nfs, btrfs), core networking, documentation and tooling. And just random fixes.

Linux 5.11-rc4 正式推出，如今这个时间节点距离 Linux 5.11 稳定版的发布也已经越来越近，因此到了目前这个开发阶段，更新内容并不会有特别显著的变化。

不过，在这个版本中也有非常值得一提的地方。NVIDIA RTX 30 系显卡的支持是此次更新中最重要的部分，但目前仅限于 Nouveau DRM 驱动程序中的内核级显示模式设置。这是对在 Linux 内核驱动程序上进行正确显示模式设置并运行最新 NVIDIA GPU 的重要补充，但暂时不支持任何 3D 加速或类似的功能。但在可预见的将来，使用 NVIDIA 安培架构 GPU 的用户可以获得功能丰富且性能卓越的专有驱动程序（前提是能买到）。

另一个值得注意的地方是，Linux 5.11-rc4 修复了已经存在半年之久的英特尔 Haswell GT1 显卡的问题，此前受影响的英特尔显卡会出现启动时挂起的问题，在更新之后终于能够恢复正常工作了。

Linux 5.11-rc4 的其余更新内容大多是关于漏洞修复方面的，想要进一步了解详情可以查看官方说明文档。Linux 5.11 稳定版则将于 2 月份正式发布。

基于 Debian 的智能手机发布，可连接外设

近日，开源硬件社区 Pine64 正式发布了一款基于 Debian 系统的智能手机 PinePhone，目标是将 Debian 带入移动端领域。

据悉，PinePhone 本质上是具有 4G 网络能力的智能手机，其搭载的操作系统名为 Mobian，桌面环境为 Phosh 。Mobian 基于 Debian 改进而来，这让 PinePhone 可以兼容 Debian 生态库中已有的 50,000 多个软件包。而 Mobian 的桌面环境采用 Phosh 构建，Phosh 是基于 GNOME 的面向移动端的桌面环境，最初是由 Purism 为其 Librem 5 智能手机开发。项目团队已经为 PinePhone 重新设计了一些符合手机显示屏大小的默认应用程序。

Linux 对 LibreSSL 的兴趣正逐渐消逝！

The LibreSSL project has been developing a fork of the OpenSSL package since 2014; it is supported as part of OpenBSD. Adoption of LibreSSL on the Linux side has been slow from the start, though, and it would appear that the situation is about to get worse. LibreSSL is starting to look like an idea whose time may never come in the Linux world.

在 Linux 的世界里，像 OpenSSL 这一类关键组件常常被抱怨缺乏人员维护导致漏洞频频。为此 2014 年后 OpenBSD 项目牵头从 OpenSSL 中建立了一个 LibreSSL 的 fork 版本 并切换到了这个新的 library。从此，项目有了一个良好的开端并发展到现在。

不过有趣的是，OpenSSL 项目在差不多相同的时间段内得到了那些需要使用 OpenSSL 的组织的更强力的支持。大的贡献者中包括 Oracle、西门子、Akamai、红帽、IBM、VMware、英特尔和 Arm，还有 OpenSSL 软件基金会自己。这种程度的支持使得 OpenSSL 项目解决了许多长期存在的问题。

所以目前的状态是：几乎所有 LibreSSL 原本希望解决的那些 OpenSSL 为人所诟病的问题都已经在如今的 OpenSSL 中解决了。LibreSSL 比起当初人们围绕他讲出的神话来说，越来越无法体现出其实际价值。现在确实已经很难找到一个 Linux 发行版还在试图使用 LibreSSL 替代 OpenSSL 了。

荣耀开发新智能手机系列，可以运行谷歌服务

据俄罗斯知名报纸《消息报》（Kommersant）报道，两位知情人士向《消息报》透露，中国智能手机品牌 “荣耀” 正在准备推出支持谷歌服务的新系列设备。一位接近华为的消息人士证实，在荣耀品牌脱离华为后，将推出的智能手机将不再拥有华为 AppGallery 应用商店，而在之前发布的设备上仍将保留。有消息称，荣耀计划在春季推出新的产品线。

据消息称，荣耀的下一个重头戏应该是 V40 系列，不过，这些手机都是在华为旗下开发的，使用的是 Magic UI，没有 GMS 接入。

如果上述消息属实的话，荣耀 X11 和荣耀 40 手机可能会支持谷歌服务，标志着其独立和新的开始。

IntelliJ IDEA 20 周岁了!

IntelliJ IDEA has reached an incredible milestone – its 20th anniversary. Can you believe it’s been 20 years already? Just think about it: we launched our product when smartphones and social media were not present in our daily lives, we had to watch movies on DVDs, and the Java virtual machine hadn’t even become open source.

2014年12月，Google 宣布其旗下专用于开发 Android 应用软件的开源 IDE 的首个版本 —— Android Studio 1.0，就是基于 IntelliJ IDEA 开源社区版本发展而成，用以取代原来提供 Android 开发者使用的 Eclipse ADT。开发者除了可直接下载Android Studio 外，原 IntelliJ 用户亦可下载其相关插件来进行开发程序。

二十年前，IntelliJ IDEA 的诞生是出于想要让开发变得更加高效，以及获得更好的开发体验这一理念而被开发出来的。如今，IntelliJ IDEA 已被全世界超过400万用户使用，在每个大陆都有用户在使用 IntelliJ IDEA——根据官方的统计数据甚至包括南极洲。
